Chamber Committees

Dozens of volunteers help the Chamber achieve our goals through work on various committees. Committee involvement creates a win-win situation for Chamber members – while helping the Chamber to complete important community projects, volunteers also have a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with other business people and to share information about their own businesses. New participants are always welcome on the following committees:

Ambassadors

Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month, 12:00 noon at rotating member restaurants

This group provides a high profile liaison between the Chamber and its membership. Ambassadors assist with special events such as mixers, grand openings, ribbon cuttings, etc.  They are also active in membership development and retention, making routine contact with other members to inform them of Chamber programs and activities.  This group also has a leads sharing component, with each Ambassador helping to market each other’s businesses.

Cars on K Street
Held on the First Saturday in April

The Valley’s premier car show draws approximately 200 exhibitors and thousands of spectators to downtown Tulare each Spring. The Committee begins meeting in January, and plans and organizes all details for the event.

Children’s Christmas Parade
Chairperson: Joan Lampe

Held the First Monday night in December at 7 pm

Presents the annual Christmas Parade, which brings the community together in downtown Tulare to kick off the holiday season each year. Committee members plan the details of the parade and organize and staff the event. 

Governmental Affairs
Co-Chairpersons:  Joey Fernandes, Fernjo Farms & Paul Daley, Daley Enterprises

Committee members monitor federal, state and local legislative and regulatory issues with a view toward recommending positions to Chamber’s Board of Directors.  This committee helps to formulate Chamber positions which allow the organization to act as an advocate for the interests of business and commercial enterprise in the political arena. Provide forums which facilitate frequent and substantive two-way communications between the public and private sectors on legislative, regulatory and administrative issues and host candidate’s forums prior to elections.

Leadership Tulare

The Leadership Tulare program helps develop individuals who want to become knowledgeable about the city and are concerned about its well being.  Leadership Tulare, a ten month program, begins with a retreat in September; ten day-long sessions, which includes a trip to State Capitol Sacramento; and seven evening sessions.  The committee plans the details of each session, solicits sponsorship funding, and recruits applicants for successive program years.

Motel Task Force
Chairperson:  Patty Rocha, Preferred Outlets at Tulare

Holds meetings on an as-needed basis

This is a sub-committee of the Citywide Marketing task force that has been established to help market Tulare for the benefit of motels, restaurants, shopping centers, etc.  It addresses all areas of cooperative advertising and any effort that will bring more tourism and visitors to Tulare.  Membership is restricted to those directly involved in  developing tourism or the hospitality industry.
