The Tulare County’s most popular concert each year is the one featuring movie themes. This concert will be full of music that depicts exhilarating chase scenes, harrowing escapes, fantasy and adventure from popular films such as “ET,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Batman,” “Edward Scissorhands” and many others.
Music director Bruce Kiesling is an admitted movie fanatic and has also written music for some movies. So his ear is always attuned to great themes. “The music will not only delight you, but you’ll come away with a greater appreciation for movie music and its ability to inform the images we see in a film with emotion, tension, pacing and suspense,” he said.
Guest saxophonist Jonathan Hulting-Cohen will play “Escapades” from the film “Catch Me If You Can.” Hulting-Cohen met Kiesling in Los Angeles when Jonathan was doing a research project on the El Sistema music system that Bruce used while he was conducting the Youth Orchestras of Los Angeles. Jonathan was going to play “Escapades” in Ann Arbor, and Bruce asked to hear a recording of it while deciding whether to play it in Visalia.
This show traditionally sells out, so it’s good to get tickets early.
