• Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias Announces the Retirement of Chief Executive Officer Galen Quenzer

    Visalia, CA — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias proudly announces the retirement of Galen Quenzer, Chief Executive Officer, following an extraordinary career spanning more than 35 years of service to the Boys & Girls Clubs movement and the youth and families of California’s Central Valley.
    With the exception of a 3-year stint as Chief Operations Officer following a merger, Galen has served as CEO since 1999, and leaves behind a legacy defined by steadfast leadership, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to helping young people reach their full potential. In total, Galen dedicated 27 years to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias, guiding the organization through periods of growth, change, and continued community impact.

    Throughout his tenure, Galen was known for his compassion, collaborative leadership style, and unwavering belief in the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened its programs, expanded services, and enhanced its ability to serve youth across Tulare County and the surrounding region—ensuring safe, supportive environments where young people learn, grow, and succeed.

    Prior to joining Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias, Galen served for 10 years as Gang Prevention Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County. In each role, Galen demonstrated a unique ability to balance mission‑driven leadership with operational rigor, helping Clubs navigate evolving community needs while maintaining strong organizational foundations.

    Across more than three decades, Galen has been a champion for youth development, staff mentorship, and community partnership. His impact extends far beyond any single role—shaping programs, developing future leaders, and fostering a culture of service and compassion that will continue to guide the organization well into the future.

    As Galen enters retirement, the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and countless alumni of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias extend their deepest gratitude for his years of service, leadership, and dedication. His influence is reflected in the lives of thousands of young people who benefitted from his work, as well as the strong, mission‑driven organization he leaves behind.
