Community Invited to Celebrate and Connect at Open House on February 28
TULARE, CA – The Tulare Veterans Memorial District has officially been designated a Historical Cultural Landmark by the City of Tulare, marking a significant moment in the city’s history and recognizing the building’s enduring role in the civic and cultural life of the community.
The official recognition will be celebrated during the Memorial District’s Open House 2026: “History in the Making” on Saturday, February 28, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Tulare Veterans Memorial District, located at 1771 E. Tulare Avenue. Admission is free and open to the public.
“This designation represents decades of community gatherings, service, remembrance, and shared history,” said Melissa Avila, Manager of the Tulare Veterans Memorial District. “We are deeply honored to receive Historical Cultural Landmark status and to continue serving as a place where Tulare’s history is preserved and new memories are created.”
For generations, the Tulare Veterans Memorial District has served as a central gathering place for community events, educational programs, celebrations, and commemorations. The Historical Cultural Landmark designation formally recognizes the building’s architectural significance, its deep cultural impact, and its lasting contribution to the development of Tulare.
In addition to celebrating this milestone, the Open House will offer a unique opportunity for community engagement. The Mayor and Vice Mayor will be in attendance and available to speak directly with residents, creating an open and welcoming environment for questions, conversation, and connection. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to interact with city leadership in an informal setting outside of City Hall.
