• City of Tulare’s Zumwalt Park Wins Prestigious Statewide Award for Excellence in Planning

    The City of Tulare is proud to announce that Zumwalt Park, featuring the Adventist Health Amphitheater, has received the 2025 Award of Excellence in Park Planning from the California Park & Recreation Society.

    Completed in May 2025, the renovation transformed Zumwalt Park into a premier destination for recreation and entertainment. The park now features the Adventist Health Amphitheater with a main stage, tiered seating, enhanced lighting, landscaped grounds, as well as a playground and splash pad for families to enjoy.

    Founded in 1946, the California Park & Recreation Society is the largest professional parks organization in the state, and its Awards of Excellence program recognizes innovation, impact, and leadership in parks and recreation. Tulare?s project was selected from a highly competitive field and praised for demonstrating excellence that helps strengthen California communities.

    In addition to this recognition, the City also received the CPRS Outstanding Program award for its creative Letters to Jack Skellington initiative, which generated more than 4,000 letters from all 50 states and multiple countries.
